Connect CIS Summit was held in Minsk, 26-27 November

The Presidents of the Republic of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and representatives of UN, International Telecommunication Union, Communications Administrations of the CIS countries, telecommunication companies participated in the Summit.

One of the main thesises of the meeting was the investment into the development of ICT and access to them. The event consisted of a range of discussions and panels: «Building a Broadband-Enabled Future», «Fostering an Enabling Environment» (26 November), «Strengthening Public Services through ICTs», «Strengthening a Knowledge-based Society», «Building Trust and Confidence in the Use of ICTs», «Moving from Analogue to Digital Broadcasting» (27 November).

Director General of RUE Beltelecom, Chairman of RCC Council of Operators, Konstantin Tikar participated and was a panelist in the panel «Building a Broadband-Enabled Future». This panel examined legal framework for telecommunications in the CIS countries and the measures that the governments could take for legal framework coordination and for stimulation investment were discussed.

The moderator of the panel was Igor Shchegolev, Minister of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, and Chairman of the RCC Board. Overview presenter was Emamgholi Behdad, Chief of the Projects and Initiatives Department of ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau. The panelists were: Vladimir Bondarik, Deputy General Director of Svyazinvest (Russian Federation); Valery Rostokin, Vice-President, Head of International Sales Department of TransTeleCom; Harald Gruber, Head of Division, Projects Director of the European Investment Bank and Alexander Bogomolov, Country Director of Nokia Siemens Networks (Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Georgia)

All panel meetings were available via video broadcasting.
