Innovative activities

Under the innovative program for 2007-2010б RUE Beltelecom carries out the following 9 projects:

1. The capacity installed on the local telephone network (including upgrade)

The project envisages the increase in the capacity of telephone exchanges of the local telephone networks through the introduction of new digital telephone exchanges and the replacement of analog switches by digital ones, which will improve quality and expand the range of services.

2. Capacity of digital trunk/ international exchanges, transit nodes, ports of junction lines.

The project envisages the increase in the capacity of digital trunk exchanges, transit nodes, ports of junction lines, the replacement of central analog exchanges of rural telephone networks by backbone-transit exchanges, built on the basis of modern digital switching equipment which will make it possible to optimize the interstation communication and increase the throughput of growing telephone traffic.

3. FOL Construction

The project envisages the construction of fiber-optic communication lines with the installation of equipment of the synchronous digital hierarchy topology “self-recovering ring” on intraareal networks and the construction of fiber optic lines on the urban and rural communication networks which will make it possible to provide telephone and data transmission services of higher quality, as well as to provide transmission of analog and digital television and radio signals to TV- and radiotransmitting stations.

4. The port capacity to access national telecommunication operator`s network (including broadband access)

The project envisages the expansion of port capacity of data network, which will enable us to provide access services to the Internet to more users.

5. Deployment of wireless access networks using Wi-Fi equipment

The project envisages the establishment of public radio coverage zones, using Wi-Fi technology to provide services of wireless access to the Internet.

6. Deployment of wireless access networks using WiMAX equipment

The project envisages the establishment of radio coverage zones using WiMAX technology to provide data transmission services.

7. Building a network of data processing centers

The project allows for the construction of data processing centers in each regional center of the Republic of Belarus and their integration into a single network, enabling the provision of services on placing information resources on the Internet with high reliability and availability.

8. The introduction of hardware-software complex for providing Internet television service (IPTV)

The project envisages the introduction of hardware-software complex enabling the provision of interactive television services IPTV. Interactive IPTV service allows viewers to watch TV and video programs at a convenient time and not be tied to the broadcast schedule.

9. Establishment of data transmission network using Metro-Ethernet technology

The project envisages the upgrade of subscriber access networks by locating active telecommunications equipment as close as possible to the customer premises. The active telecommunications equipment is installed in the street closed distribution cabinets. The project will enhance the quality of data transmission services.
